C監房 – Cell Block C Japanese Version, written to express opposition to the current abusive treatment of immigrants that is reminiscent of the treatment of Japanese Americans during World War II, such as at the artist’s home town, Salinas, CA, and the Minidoka Internment Camp in Idaho. 私たちは疲れ果てた者たちを
貧しき者たちを自由に息をす
ることを渇望し身を寄せ合う
群衆を裏切った彼らは今も追
われ打ちのめされC監房の中
で息をしようともがいているWe betrayed the exhausted and the poor—
the throngs who huddled together,
yearning to breathe freely.
Even now, hounded and battered,
they struggle to draw breath
